Honoring MLK's Legacy
Today as we collectively remember Dr. King’s legacy, let us also be spurred on to honor the work of King and so many other civil rights leaders through our actions. Around here, we talk a lot about cultivating good lives, worthy lives through daily routines and rhythms. But if our daily routines and overarching goals are solely self focused, then what is it all for? Let us commit that in all we do, as our lives become more fully aligned with who we are, that we also are becoming more loving, more accepting, more understanding of the plight of others. Let us be ambassadors for righteousness and justice in our world and our own personal spheres.
So I implore you to read, once again, Rev Dr. Martin Luther King’s Letter from a Birmingham Jail. There is so much we can continue to learn from this letter and from listening to our siblings of color. It is our responsibility alone to grow past lukewarm into more actively loving, justice oriented women in 2020 and today is a good one to begin.
